How to Make Tour White Rubber Roof White Again

Topic: Help with stained rubber roof ??
Posted By: Haulin on 06/11/04 09:07am Help! The previous possessor of my 29 Wilderness TT, nosotros'll just call him Moron for the sake of word, allowed leaves and such to sit down on and stain the white rubber roof of the trailer. I've tried the mainstream rr cleaners total-stength (Tetford & Protect-all) with little success. Likewise tried Westley'southward & spic-n-bridge, no amend.

I'm killing myself cleaning black streaks off the sides and I accept to believe the stained roof is the largest crusade.

Any options that I should consider?

Thanks,

Posted By: Redcatcher70 on 06/11/04 09:21am If you haven't washed it off by now, I dubiety that the stains are causing your black streaks. A stain is set in and won't run off. Black streaks are a past-product of rubber roofs. Everyone will have them. You might try extending your rain gutters with dress pins to keep some of the water from running down the sides of the trailer. My neighbor bought a high dollar cover for his trailer, he still had black streaks. Be conscientious on what y'all utilise on the roof, y'all tin do more damage than good trying to remove stains.

Posted By: marsht01 on 06/11/04 09:34am My trick is to take some Soft Scrub w/bleach and squirt some on a 5x5 expanse at a time. Use a scrub brush on a broom handle and give it a good scubbing then let information technology sit for about 2 min, rinse off with lots of water and keep rinsing the sides too to keep from streaking. The roof comes out white equally snowfall. In your instance if the roof is actually bad yous may have to use more Soft Scrub and permit it sit down for some extra time. It may not make yours completely white again simply Id exist surprised if it didnt help alot. Also I recommend you dont exercise information technology on a hot/direct sunlight 24-hour interval then when you are done to give the TT a practiced washing.
Posted By: drfife on 06/11/04 09:49am I've had good success removing stains from my rubber roofs with "Clorox Clean-upwards" and a little scrubbing. Clorox Make clean-up is a spray cleaner that contains sodium hypochlorite (household bleach). Wear erstwhile clothes. The over-spray and splash volition ruin them.

I also utilise information technology to clean my vinyl awnings.

Not bad product. Bachelor at nigh retail stores that sell kitchen cleaners.

Posted By: Capt Skup on 06/11/04 09:49am If those stains have been at that place for awhile, I bet they are permanent unless yous utilise an abrasive cleaner(Don't) to remove them. Scrubbing the stains away volition probably do more impairment than good. Our roof is stain free and we notwithstanding get the black streaks from the end drains of the gutters. I am going to try the diverter method with the clothpins, neat idea.

Posted Past: David Mack on 06/11/04 10:18am I've used Soft Scrub a few times and it works well.
I'll usually apply some rubber roof handling after I'm finished scrubbing. This also helps with later clean ups.

Posted By: Haulin on 06/17/04 05:56am Capt. Grumph,

I'thousand working to keep a fresh glaze of cleaner wax on the sides and your right information technology helps with the side by side few clean-ups. The clothespin idea is a skilful i, however, I've broken a couple of the gutter-finish diverter pieces. Any idea how to supercede them, they appear to exist pretty well coated with sealant. I wonder if I'll create a bigger issue by disturbing them.

Thanks,

Perhaps a hemi or oil burner would blow off those streaks.

Good luck with the new hitch!

Posted By: Capt. Grumph on 06/xvi/04 08:45am I wouldn't worry well-nigh the stains, they are not causeing the streaks. My TT sits nether a tree and I have quite a few stains from leaves. I just keep the roof relatively make clean. I hose it off every other week & brush a bit with an RV brush. I also use rubber roof cleaner every now and then. To go on the streaks downward I brand sure the gutters are clean, use the clothespins at the gutter ends and continue some wax on the TT (especially the areas that form streaks). Some streaks are inevitable and the cleaners sold at CW do a good job of getting rid of them.
Be careful what you use to clean the roof equally some products volition harm it and you could end upwards with a much bigger trouble than a few stains.
